Re: IE7Pro 2.3 Beta2 (Internal Beta Only)

FasterIE sure seems to live up to it's name.  Unless I am imagining it IE is faster.

Is the cache disk or memory based?  If disk based where is it stored?

Re: IE7Pro 2.3 Beta2 (Internal Beta Only)

Why "Enable prefetching" after "Enable prefetching DNS" ?
What's the prefetching really doing (so I can translate in good French) ?

Re: IE7Pro 2.3 Beta2 (Internal Beta Only)

By default, you should add "?" as prefetching filter, no ?

Re: IE7Pro 2.3 Beta2 (Internal Beta Only)

And what about a "prefetch also if extension is not known" (sample: http://www.ie7pro.com/, http://xyz.xyz/somedir/, ...) ?
--------------------------------
My personnal prefecthing rules :
+ : html shtml htm mht mhtm mhtml css js gif png txt xml
- : ?; php; asp; cgi-bin; search; /ads/; /ad/; /banner/; unscribe; unsubscribe; subscribe; edit; delete; modify;
--------------------------------
You should always prefetch from google or another web search (or add an option to do it).

The link is prefetched just as IE view it. So it's cached by IE.

Prefetch DNS has no relastionship with prefech. It just query DNS, so hostname->ip is quickly.
The mean of  prefetching: http://developer.mozilla.org/en/docs/Li … tching_FAQ
The mean of enhanced prefetching: http://fasterfox.mozdev.org/faq.html

You should always prefetch from google or another web search (or add an option to do it).

Use '/' as the extension, then "http://www.ie7pro.com/" can be prefetched.
The web search(Google, yahoo, live) is optimized that all the search results are prefetched, no matter which extension it has.
But you must enable enhanced prefetching.

Re: IE7Pro 2.3 Beta2 (Internal Beta Only)

Hello,
Prefetching:
-I am not sure about this FX documents, when I enable prefetch DN, prefetching or enhanced prefetching, this prefetch sites or objects are stored on the disk or in the RAM?
-"FremyCompany" post above a list of prefetching rules, are the format of both lists different? With and without ";" ?

However, IEFaster really improve the speed, many thanks for this feature.
=================

I don't know if this is 2.3Beta2 related or a problem with IE8.0 Beta, but I notice that all links (Homepage, and the links inside the "About" dialog)  in the settings not work.

Stored on the disk. It's the IE cache.

Lastwebpage wrote:

The list is seperated by " ", not the ";".

Re: IE7Pro 2.3 Beta2 (Internal Beta Only)

I just noticed that the HTML's that are prefetched by IEfaster are going to "C:\Users\Streetwolf\AppData\Local\Temp" and not the TIF.  Is this the way it should work?

The file in this folder is temporary, and it is deleted soon. The cache file is in the IE cache folder.

Re: IE7Pro 2.3 Beta2 (Internal Beta Only)

NO crash at hxxp://bbs.crsky.com here...

The IEfaster does make a difference in page viewing. Have not yet encountered setbacks.

When are the files deleted?  On my system they just accumulate until I empty my TEMP folder manually.

Re: IE7Pro 2.3 Beta2 (Internal Beta Only)

Thank you so much for making the minimize-to-tray feature work and for adding batch download support!!!!!!!! smile smile smile

With batch downloads in the MiniDM, it does not ask you where to save the file.  It should ask for the first link and apply the same settings to the rest.

The prefetch options of FasterIE section are great.
But I've the same "problem": I've changed the %temp% variable to point on a little partition an now my temp directory is almost full. Do you can add an option IE7-like?
I.e.: for every prefetch section, the user could to be able to select the path and the amount of disk space available for prefetching.
Thanx.
